Frequently Asked Questions

  • Your child can attend Kindy in the year they turn 4 years old by 30th June. You can use the Kindy calculator to determine which year your child is age eligible to attend Kindy.

  • Ballymore Kindy has 2 Kindy groups across the week. 

    • Group 1 attends Mondays and Tuesdays from 8:30am – 4:00pm 

    • Group 2 attends Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:45am -2:45pm

  • The Queensland Government provides 15 hours of free kindy each week for eligible children. At Ballymore Kindy, our 2-day group fits within this funded time and is free to attend. Our 3-day group offers extended hours beyond the funded 15, with a small term fee of $313 to support the additional time at Kindy.

  • Complete the waitlist application and we will be in touch if your child is offered a place at Ballymore Kindy.

  • Kindy operates in alignment with school terms. We are closed during the school holidays and on public holidays.

  • Each Kindy group has a maximum of 22 children.

  • Each group is supported by a minimum of 2 staff: an Early Childhood Teacher and an Educator. 

    When extra support is needed, additional staff join us to ensure that all children feel safe and included in their kindy day.

  • No, Ballymore Kindy does not have an after hours program.

  • At Ballymore Kindy, families provide their child’s food each day, including morning tea, lunch and, on the longer days – afternoon tea. 

    We nurture a positive relationship with food by encouraging relaxed, mindful mealtimes and open, respectful conversations about health, culture and nutrition.

  • Yes – rest is an important part of our day.  Each afternoon, the group enjoys a brief period of calm, with relaxation opportunities tailored to individual needs.

    • A hat – broad brimmed for sun safety 

    • Lunchbox – please pack nutritious food that your child enjoys. Include enough for morning tea, lunch and also afternoon tea for the longer days. 

    • A drink bottle – water only thanks. 

    • Sheet bag and sheets – Please see the parent handbook for specific dimensions. 

    • Spare clothes – we get messy at Kindy, so factor this in when selecting clothes for Kindy. 

    • A backpack to fit all the above in. 

    Please remember to name ALL of your child’s belongings.

  • This can vary from year to year and between groups. If there are children with allergies that may affect what can be packed in lunchboxes, families will be notified with clear guidelines to help keep everyone safe.
